Répondez s'il vous plaît?
Lucia: So apparently there’s a Yale group called Rape and Sexual Violence Prevention. RSVP.
Laura: Yeah, that’s awkward.

Who is David Gra-bear?
Lucia: So we have L.L. Nunn, UT has Frantz Fanon, and you guys have a bear?
Laura: Why do you get L.L. Nunn?
Lucia: Because we made his Facebook profile.

I like you guys moderately. No wait, I love you...
Lucia: Aha, I got it!
Laura: What? How?
Lucia: Found the crack and just kind of pried it open. Finesse doesn’t work—brute force does. I’m sure that has allegorical significance.
Laura: Meaning that crystallized ginger is—
Lucia: Packaged by weirdoes?
Laura: Or that.

Amalia: You can love your friends without being sexually attracted to them.
Caroline: Yeah, like how Lucia loves us all moderately.
---
Lucia: So who is this guy?
Ellen: He’s a bitch. He just keeps bitching to people about how their methodologies are all wrong. Bitch, bitch, bitch.
Amalia: I feel that's a very unorthodox explanation. He’s an epistemologist.
Ellen: A bitch, an epistemologist, what’s the difference?
---
Amalia: Lucia, is it bad that I want you to become a Christian rock star?

In CHNS 220 we code-switch.
Xiaoxun: 莲香 just sounds like a prostitute.
Casey: There are certain names in English that just don't sound like good girl names-- you know, like Candy. Stripper names. I think this is kind of like that.
Nick: Is 莲香 a really... 土 name? Is that how you say it?
Tina Lu: I think we're getting a little off-track here.

Insert facepalm here.
Ben: Ellen, do you have any actual political opinions beyond misogyny?
Ellen: Uh, yeah. Homophobia!

I could be the Posterwhore of the Left-- the......
Lucia: I associate the Left with sans-serif and the Right with curlicues. I am a fan of neither of these design elements, but sans-serif is better than curlicues.
Jess: True statement.
Jess: Wait. Why did your computer just default to that?
Lucia: I don't know! Aquiline is such a rightist font.

Jess: I love high-church, even if it's just a spiritual crutch.
Lucia: Me too. So if Buddhism were to fit on the whole high-church/low-church spectrum-- which it doesn't-- it'd be super-low church. But I feel like the high-church experience best lends itself to approximating the dissolution of the self.
Jess: Exactly. It's all about the ritual, lifting you above the everyday.
Lucia: Like meditation. Freeing yourself from the constraints of ordered thought.
Jess: Right.
Lucia: And both situations can have candles!
Jess: Really we just like fire!
Lucia: We're UMich TASPers.

Went to Compline with Roy Lee and the Jesus triumvirate. Lungs now porous with sweet smoke, and was miffed I couldn't photograph the interior of the Christ Church Episcopal-- am given to tacky behavior, but not that tacky. Still, it was all very beautiful.
